Virtual Book Tour: How the Tour Works
« back
Once a book has been selected for a VBT, here's what happens.
- The author will have a phone consultation with our tour director Kevin Smokler who will determine what you perceive as the audience for your book, what riches may be gleaned from it and how will we integrate the author's own website into the tour. All of these factors make for a strong VBT. Any feedback you have here is welcome. Publicists are both welcome and encouraged to sit in on this conversation.
- Kevin will select tour sites based on your book's subject matter and their traffic.
- At least two weeks but preferably one month before the tour begins, the publisher will send copies of the book (No ARCs) to the participating bloggers.
- Kevin will work with authors and bloggers to develop a master plan of the content for each tour stop. Content can include an author interview, a review of the book or an original essay from the author. Participating websites will be in touch with authors to address any technical questions they might have.
- About a week before the tour, the author will receive a Tour Dossier which lists each website on the tour and what content will go on which site. Around this time, the author should begin generating content based on our conversations.
- The tour begins! The author will have a schedule indicating what their responsibilities are on each day of the tour. Kevin will be available throughout the tour to answer questions.
